Two Unrelated Things

First of all, Bertrand Goldgar, who was one of my very favorite professors, passed away this week. His Satire class was one of my fondest memories of college. Rest in peace, you wonderful cranky old bastard you.

Also, after viewing Grey Gardens for the first time I have come to the somewhat alarming realization that I had better get married, because if I don't I'm going to grow up to be Little Edie Beale.

That is all.

god, isn't that weird we have that drive to "get married", "have kids", otherwise our lives mean nothing? i'm totally dramatizing it, but i think you know what i mean. i am getting to that point as well. like, hm.. i don't even have a proper suitor... and i should get married soon.. i am 23 and all... almost 24... all my relatives and people i went to high school are getting married....

but fuck dude. i ain't got time for that shit! hahahaha. nooooo babies for me, not for another 10 years!

No kidding. The cultural idea is that if we don't marry we'll wind up alone and going vaguely crazy (much like Little Edie Beale, who has about eight cats and wears sweaters wrapped around her head and her skirts upside down and if she didn't hate her life so much would actually be pretty awesome.)

What I think I actually mean is that, contrary to my previous Vulcan-esque beliefs, I do actually need social interaction, and I start to go loopy without it :D.
